. LT Thomas Paris Commanding Officer |
Welcome to the website for the Calumet Harbor Division of the United States Naval Sea Cadet Corps. We are an organization designed to teach American youth ages 11-17 the basics of seamanship, leadership, and military life and the core values of Honor, Courage, and Commitment. Cadets receive training aboard our own and Navy and Coast Guard ships and schools and wear Navy uniforms marked with Sea Cadet Corps insignia. The winter months are applied to learning the theoretical aspects of nautical skills, as well as other activities that cannot be performed on board the division's boats such as marching drill, Color Guard, physical fitness training, and other ground-based activities. During warmer weather, the cadets are very active on board boats. Activities include ship maintenance and repair, watch station qualifications, training in many aspects of ship-handling and navigation, drills and emergency procedures, and training cruises on Lake Michigan. |
